Core Engineer ( Full-time )

Paris, France

Posted on Feb 09 2017

You will join a team of three experienced software engineers working on Lima's core technology. The code we write runs on Lima devices, but also embedded into our applications for Windows, macOS, Linux desktops, iOS and Android. The historical code base is in C, but we now embed Lua 5.3, which we use to write our high-level code.

The Lima system is pretty complicated technology based on thick client applications. The job involves various facets such as: network protocols, replication algorithms, filesystems, security... You do not need to know about it all, but you must be willing to learn.

Skills Required
  • Ability to navigate a large C code base.
  • Testing and debugging skills.
  • Reasonably good CS background (algorithms, data structures...).
Skills Desired
  • Experience with Lua.
  • (Secure) C programming.
  • Portable (cross-platform) software development (desktop, mobile, embedded).
  • Experience with developing software such as: databases, filesystems or backend servers.
  • Cryptography engineering.
  • Linux, macOS and/or Windows kernel programming.
About the company

Lima sells a small box that you connect to a USB hard drive and your home network; you can then use it to store your files and make them available on all your devices. We are a VC-backed startup with around 25 employees to date.

The usual in France: top notch healthcare, 5 weeks paid vacation...
